President Uhuru Kenyatta and his wife First Lady Margaret Kenyatta leave for US on Friday to attend the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.

This just comes barely six weeks after Uhuru visited Washington during the Africa-US Leaders Summit that was held in Washington, where he met President Barrack Obama face to face for the second time after the first one in South Africa during the funeral of South African icon, Nelson Mandela.

Both the President Uhuru Kenyatta and his wife, Margaret, are expected to be honoured and will be given a chance to address the Assembly for the first time.

As Uhuru will be making his maiden speech at UNGA as the duly elected President of the Republic of Kenya, his wife, Margaret, will be addressing the Assembly on Maternal and Child Health.

The First Lady was invited in her personal capacity by the UN to speak on the topic thanks to her Beyond Zero Campaign which has transformed and saved lives and which was born out of her undying love for children and women.

Uhuru’s second visit to America in less than 2 months signals good things ahead as far as the Kenya-US diplomatic relationship is concerned.

The President is also expected to attend other meetings on the sidelines to discuss among other things, terrorism and climate change.

Uhuru’s visit comes when CORD leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka are in Europe probably to beg money for their referendum, which Jubilee has dismissed saying that its real intention is to destabilize Uhuru/ Ruto’s Government.
